Hat or Lapel Pins from Inexpensive earring(s)

Postby Vannielovesmovies on Wed Aug 06, 2008 8:04 am

I have a dish full of lost partner earrings (much like lost partner socks), some go in the worth saving stack and some go in the what was I thinking stack. Either way I have kept all of them.

You can make superior hat or lapel pins just by snipping off the earring posts. If you have a pair that was a wearing mistake, they may look better when used as matching pins for your business suit or pinned on a hat that needs something more.

Easy Intrx: remove the post as close to the back as you can, then add a pin backing with a bit of epoxy glue. If you don't have any old earrings, be on the lookout for a pair that will make suitable pins and start snipping and gluing.

Oh yeh! Socks make really great dust thingies, just pull the sock onto your hand and spray a little Endust or Pledge on the sock.

These also make fun magnets and bulletin board pushpins.

Here's a short piece I wrote about it. Might spark some other ideas.
