Now, here's a concept I ran across the other day - growing tomatoes upside down. The company (you'll find them at Amazon) sells a collapsible contraption that you fill with a plant and dirt. Then you hang it - great for patios or apartment balconies.
Even better, bugs apparently don't attack. There are mixed reviews, but it sounds like a terrific idea if it works.
