What's Your Craft Specialty?

Postby Vannielovesmovies on Sat Mar 22, 2008 8:53 am

I never thought of myself as a person who crafts. Probably because I did not know what "crafting" meant. Today, I am proud to say "I am a crafter" :P

I enjoy making gemstone jewelry and greeting cards. I am not A#1 at either, but I get by. I have sold a few items, but mostly I find making things with my hands is very relaxing and rewarding.

I totally agree - crafting is so relaxing for me. As an artist, I do quite a bit of fine art, mosaics and sculpting. But, then I get just as much joy out of creating wine charms and things that are just fun to have and sometimes, silly stuff, too.

My sister's the really great stamper for cards (I'm trying to get her in here to moderate a stamping section).

I made earrings :-)

Postby Vannielovesmovies on Wed Jun 25, 2008 11:30 am

I have pretty much stayed away from making earrings because  , you know I am not sure why. However, this past weekend my museum had a free members morning arts and crafts thingie. This time I picked wire jewelry from the plastic pumpkin (yeh, I know). The instructor was excellent. We were all given supplies to make 1 or 2 pairs of dangle earrings with swarovski crystals. The class was 1-1/2 hours.

I am hoping to take a photo of my earrings, so I can post it. By the way here is the instructor's web site http://www.sandsstones.com her pieces are beautiful.

My, Vannie - I've been trying to get in and add some stuff. I have my own stash of earring supplies - really loved doing them once upon a time. I'd make them with special paper, then paint on them. Your instructor has some really nice things.

Post a picture when you get a chance. For posting pics into actual messages, they need to be "parked" somewhere on-line. If you need a spot, let me know. Then, you can just send the photo to me, I'll upload it and give you the link. (Google also has a place for that I just discovered - it's called Picasa web albums.
