Almost no sewing required. Use red, white and blue bandanas as napkins instead of paper napkins. Buy a big red bath towel and cut it place mat size. Why red? Because ugly BBQ stains will be harder to see Wink
You can use the 'place mats' as is, or do a quick whip stich around the sides. See Better Homes & Garden for diagram of whipstitch
