Turner Classic Movies has two should-see movies next Sunday. One a serious 2 hanky tear-jerker. The other one is pure cotton candy fluff. Both are in letterbox format so you won't miss a thing. Grab a pizza and enjoy.

TCM-Sept. 8 starting at 8:00 PM

8:00 PM Imitation Of Life (1959)
Two mothers, one white, one black, face problems with their rebellious daughters. Cast: Lana Turner, Sandra Dee, Susan Kohner. Dir: Douglas Sirk. C-125 mins, TV-PG, CC, Letterbox Format

10:15 PM Gidget (1959)
A young girl dreams of winning acceptance from a gang of surfers. Cast: Sandra Dee, Cliff Robertson, James Darren. Dir: Paul Wendkos. C-95 mins, TV-G, CC, Letterbox Format

Oh, Vannie! Imitation of Life (with Lana) is my all-time #1 favorite movie! I sob every time at the end. Been years since I saw Gidget, but what fun!
