Full Length Films on Cellphones?

Postby Vannielovesmovies on Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:24 am

I just read a blurb in one of my online list mags, NJ Biz. And here I thought being able to order from NetFlix was the max

U.S.: Sony to offer movies on AT&T phones
4/1/2008

Sony Pictures Television says it will become the first Hollywood studio to offer full-length movies by cellphone.
The unit of Japanese electronics maker Sony Corp. says it will offer a range of popular titles on special AT&T Inc. phones in May.

The movies, such as "Bugsy," "Ghostbusters" and "Karate Kid," will be among those that have made their theatrical and DVD runs and have been broadcast on TV already.

The titles will be streamed with advertisements in a loop and not be available on demand.

AT&T says it has not yet determined a price on the new subscriber package. Those who wish to obtain the service can only do so on new LG Vu and Samsung Access phones.

As much as I love movies, a cell phone might be just a teeny bit small. Is that for downloading to a computer or TV? or just to watch on the phone itself?

My little secret is - we avoid movie theaters these days. Much prefer to rent and be able to pause when you want to. Plus we have the whole place to ourselves and can spread out in comfort.
