Brokeback Mountain

Postby Vannielovesmovies on Tue Mar 11, 2008 5:44 am

I made a similar post in another group and thought I would share it here also. I had been advised that I must rent and watch Brokeback Mountain ASAP. I did rent it and I have received the film from NetFlix. I will watch it later this week.

For some reason, it feels a bit eerie to watch this film so close to Ledger's death, I wish I knew why. I took the movie from my mailbox (I love NetFlix service :D ) this past Saturday. Usually I will watch a movie within a day or so, but have put off viewing this one. I don't think it is the subject matter, just the idea that Ledger was so young.

Vannie - I know exactly what you mean. Haven't seen BBM, yet, but will one of these days. I'm sure it is excellent acting, but then you think about the talent that was lost.

Cindy,

I saw Brokeback Mountain this week. As I told my friend, it is very beautiful and incredibly depressing. The mountains and open space scenery took my breath away. The clouds are amazing.

While watching the film I felt anxious because I knew something "bad" was going to happen. I did not know the story, so was not sure what, but, there was an odd undercurrent flowing through the movie. Plus, I found myself looking closely at Ledger's face. Still, it is excellent.

Hi Vannie:

I haven't seen the movie yet. But I've had friends who say it was indeed, a great flick. I had trouble looking at Heath Ledger in the trailer shots of him playing in the upcoming Batman movie. It was eerie, indeed.

I remember Heath in some movie where he was in medieval times, and he was on a horse with a lance and a shield, jousting. I swear it was Heath, and he was wonderful in that one. I had seen it on TV, so it might have been made a number of years ago. Am I dreaming? What the heck was that flick? I'm having a senior moment, as they say.
