A Plant in a Coffee Mug (child friendly)

Do you remember the first planter you made in school? Mine was Coleus seeds in a 8 oz. milk container. I can't tell you how proud we kids were when we saw that first little stem peeking up from the soil.

You can make a coffee mug planter using the same simple technique. A trip to the dollar store is all it takes to find a couple of mugs, or perhaps a peek in kitchen cabinet will suffice.

Put potting soil in a clean mug, fill mug to half full. Shake some flower seeds on top of soil and continue adding soil to cup. Just add water--Voilà! You have a plant in a coffee mug.

Later do not over-water plant. Wait until it is just moist to the touch before watering again.
